5 EASY WAYS FAMILY AND FRIENDS CAN SAVE YOU TONS OF MONEY!
These are 5 (there’s likely more!) easy ways that keeping in touch with friends and family can help you save you tons of money. Certain items may seem small, but add all the savings together and calculate your yearly savings to find big savings!
LIVE AT HOME:
The best way to save thousands of dollars a year is to simply live at home with your parents while working. This could be massively helpful towards paying off your loans quick!

Do you have grandparents or other family that you could stay with instead?
GET ROOMMATES
Don’t want to live with mom and dad, how about your best friend? Share an apartment, or even cheaper share a room in apartment, and potentially save thousands of money in rent.
NETFLIX, HBO, SHOWTIME – These are all monthly television accounts. For example, Netflix’s monthly plan is $8, HBO’s is $15/month, and Showtime’s is $11/month. Many of these plans allow internet streaming to different locations and devices. By sharing these services amongst friends and family, you can get “free” TV and save money.
SHARE THE PHONE & DATA PLAN:
There are so many data plans and cell phone carriers out there that I couldn’t possibly give you the exact savings if you shared your phone/data plan with your family. But, if you can get mom and dad to continue to fit the bill, or to continue to let you on the family plan and just pay your portion – I know this will save you money easily!
Lets take this example: AT&T currently has 1 plan called:
AT&T Unlimited Choice:
1 line costs $60/month
2 lines cost 115/month (that’s $57.5 per line)
Each line after that is $20 more, so 3 lines would be: $135/month (that $45/month per line)
So you can see that if you went on your own with this plan, you would pay $60/month. But if you shared it with your family, and lets say you were a family of 3, then its only $45/ month. That’s $15/month savings or $80 / year! If you have a bigger family you could be saving even more!
Amazon prime costs $10.99/month or $99/yr as a non student. Some perks include Free 2d day shipping, prime pantry (online low priced grocery store with flat free shipping of $5.99), free prime video streaming of movies and TV shows, and Prime Music. By sharing this service with your family, you can get free TV, free music streaming, and free shipping on select items!
