Below are 10 quick and simple lifestyle changes that can save you hundreds of dollars a year.

CREATE A BUDGET: Having a monthly plan helps you know when you can splurge and when to save.

CREATE A DEBT REPAYMENT PLAN: Just like a budget, create a plan of attack for your loans. If you have extra cash this could be going towards your loans or to other costly debt.

I have been using this antenna for 2 years now and I love it. It has saved me over $200 over the last 2 years.  AMAZON FIRE STICK is a reasonably priced streaming devices that is a fraction of the cost of traditional TV providers such as Direct TV, Comcast or Dish

The amazon fire stick is perfect for someone who wants a very portable media streaming device at a very low price point.

  • Includes Alexa Voice Remote
  • Over 140 channels and 15,000 apps including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video
  • Prime members get unlimited access to Prime Video
  • Plug Fire TV Stick into any TV’s HDMI port

ROKU is another streaming device. I have used Roku for 2 years and I love it. It has saved us hundreds of dollars, takes only seconds to set up, and allows us to watch tons of channels. If you get Roku, look into also getting sling tv which is a TV channel that for 20$ a month allows you to watch HGTV, TNT, ESPN, FREEFORM, FOOD, TRAVEL, HISTORY and more!

Roku 4 | HD and 4K UHD Streaming Media Player with Enhanced Remote (Voice Search, Lost Remote Finder, and Headphone), Quad-Core Processor, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB Port

STOP DRINKING SODA AND OTHER COSTLY HABITS (STARBUCKS???): Buy a Soda Stream or a coffee maker and start making your tasty drinks at home instead!

I bought my boyfriend the soda stream and its really great. We can avoid the extra sugar in sodas and make our own with their sirups. But mostly we just add a lemon or lime slice!  Just fill up with water and push the button a couple times and your done.

Or….IF you like coffee (which my boyfriend happens to as well) then try the aero press. It makes coffee super fast -add a scoop of coffee, pour in boiled water and press down. All together about 5 min! Clean up is the best, just rinse and your done.  Just $31.95!

STOP EATING OUT and LEARN TO COOK or GROUPON AT LEAST: If you are going to eat out, at least have a coupon through sites like Groupon or Livingsocial. But try to eat in and cook as much as possible – not only is the food cheaper, but also you aren’t having to pay for tip nor drinks and I think its healthier!

MOVE TO LOWER COST OF LIVING AREA: While not luxurious, rent is significantly less in middle America, allowing you to save thousands of dollars year.

AUTO PAY FULL BALANCE on ALL CREDIT CARDS: You’ll never have to pay for a late payment nor an interest payment again! And its a little less painful when the computer pays your bills.

Shop ONLINE, ON SALE OR AT OUTLETS: Stores often have promotions and coupons online and outlet sections online or at malls often have the same quality clothes at a fraction of the price. Outlet malls are my weakness, they have great deals and just as nice of clothes.

These tips wont make you a millionaire and yes, they wont pay off your loans. But when I started these steps, I started my way to better lifelong habits. Better spending habits and lifestyle habits will add up over the lifetime.

What I like to do is take a behavior like watching a movie at home instead of in the theaters and calculate it out yearly. Instead of $40 for myself and my boyfriend to watch a movie, we can rent a movie for $1.50. Say we watch a move once a month, if we watched it in the theater, this would have been: 40 x 12: $480 spent on going to the movies. If we rented once a month: 1.50 x 12: just $18!!!! Thats a yearly savings of $462!  So I take everything I spend and I calculate it out annually to get a better idea of how much I could save!
